When visiting Disneyland, a must have is the Monte Cristo and Pommes Frites at Café Orleans in New Orleans Square. They have so many great items on the menu, but these two items are a Disneyland Classic that you have to indulge in at least once.
Indoor or outdoor seating available. I prefer to sit outside so I can people watch and enjoy the sights and sounds of New Orleans Square.
I always start with Pommes Frites. They are traditional French fried potatoes tossed with parmesan, garlic, and parsley served with Cajun Spice Remoulade.
When it comes to the classic Monte Cristo, I like to share with a friend. It is a big meal and quite indulgent, so I feel a little less guilt sharing. Plus, it leaves more room for other Disney treats in the park.
The Monte Cristo Sandwich is sliced turkey, ham, and swiss cheese fried in a light batter, dusted with powdered sugar, and served with a berry purée.
There is a Monte Cristo option for vegetarians, or anyone who prefers more cheese to turkey and ham. The Three-Cheese Monte Cristo Sandwich is swiss, mozzarella, and double crème brie fried in a light batter, dusted with powdered sugar, and served with a berry purée. I love brie cheese so I had to give it a try. It is excellent, but I prefer the classic.
Don’t skip on dessert!! Café Orleans has Mickey-shaped Beignets on the menu. They are the same Mickey-shaped beignets as Mint Julep Bar, but the difference is they are served on a platter, served with fruit coulis and our house-made vanilla bean crème anglaise. The best!!
If you or someone in your party are celebrating a birthday, let your server know and they will bring out a special little surprise treat.
Café Orleans is only open for lunch and dinner. Click here to view the menu.
I recommend making a reservation online in advance, up to 60 days prior to your visit, to secure your spot. Reservations can be made by phone or on Disneyland’s website or app, click here. On busier days, such as the weekends or Holidays, Café Orleans does not take walk-ins.
Annual Passholder Discounts apply.
