Jean Philippe Patisserie

My husband and I were really terrible about taking a kid free vacation until two years ago. My best friend planned a couples vacation for us at Aria Resort & Casino. Since then we have made sure we get to Aria at least twice a year along with my BFF and her husband. Every trip involves multiple stops at Jean Philippe Patisserie, which is conveniently located in the casino of Aria.

Jean Philippe offers  gelato, crepes, macarons, fine chocolates, coffee, tea & espresso drinks, pastries, paninis and many other decadent treats. It didn’t occur to me until I started working on this post that we order anything and everything Nutella at Jean Philippe. Just wait, you’ll see.

Most mornings on our Vegas vacation we will start our day by sharing a Nutella crepe topped with strawberries and raspberries. They do not hold back on the Nutella and I don’t hate them for that. We prefer getting the fruit on top, but typically they make the crepes with the fruit inside. Jean Philippe isn’t all about chocolate and sweets, they also have a wide array of savory crepes.

Springtime at Disneyland

Springtime at Disneyland is something very special. You can’t help but stop and enjoy all of the flowers and greenery around every corner. On our recent trip I couldn’t resist snapping pics of the touches of Spring throughout the park, as well as Disney California Adventure.

I’m still mourning the loss of the Peanut Butter sandwich from Pooh Corner, but one new thing I am enjoying in its place is each month Candy PalacePooh Corner, and Trolley Treats have a special marshmallow wand. In March the marshmallow wand was Triple Chocolate, it was dipped in caramel, chocolate, covered in mini chocolate chips then drizzled with milk, dark and white chocolate. I could barely sneak more then a couple bites from my teenager, so needless to say, we loved it! Continue reading

Birthday Celebration at Disneyland

Every year we designate a December and January visit to Disneyland for both of our boys’ birthdays. On these particular visits, they get to pick out what rides we hit and get any treats they want…wait, they do that every visit?! HA! My youngest turned 7 this year so we visited the park in late January to celebrate his day. On our way to the park, I like to tweet @disneylandtoday for a fun little birthday shout out that makes my kids’ day.

Hayden is one of the pickiest kids you may ever meet. The only treats he wants from Disneyland are Mickey shaped soft pretzels, Mickey cake pops, hot dogs and macaroni & cheese, all depending on his mood. This particular visit he wanted a Mickey pretzel as soon as we got to the park. Mickey pretzels can be found at Pretzel Carts located all throughout the park. They also sell a side of nacho cheese at an additional cost or cream-cheese filled pretzels. Continue reading

Brunch at Brooklyn Girl Eatery

Last weekend I was searching for a brunch spot we hadn’t frequented yet when I stumbled upon a recent article published in the San Diego Union-Tribune titled San Diego’s top 25 brunch spots. #3 on the list was Brooklyn Girl Eatery in Mission Hills, which happened to be a spot that has been on my must-try list for sometime. I made a reservation through Open Table and headed that way.

I walked in and was immediately smitten with the decor. It was light and bright with really creative artwork and eclectic knick knacks as well as a wall of Barbie dolls encased along a wall leading to the ladies room. Continue reading

Liberty Public Market

We recently checked out the new Liberty Public Market at Liberty Station.  Liberty Public Market offers the best fresh and local flavors. It reminded me of Grand Central Market with the rustic environment and prepared foods, produce, seafood, pasta, beer, wine, cocktails, coffee, pastries and desserts.

We first went to the market on a Saturday at lunch time. It was pretty packed, but manageable. Once inside the market my family and I split up because we all wanted to try something different. For me my first stop was coffee at The WestBean Coffee Roasters. They offer lattes, cappuccinos, espresso, cold brews, and even Nitro cold brew coffee on tap. My eyes were drawn to their Salted Caramel latte. I wanted an iced, but for some reason the word “iced” never escaped my lips. It wasn’t a problem because the latte was superb! Next visit I will go iced for sure. Continue reading
