Cozy Cone Motel at Cars Land

I wanted to share some of my favorite snacks from Cozy Cone Motel in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park. It is such a fun little spot for a snack pit stop! There are 5 giant cones that offer snacks such as “Route” beer floats, churro bites, pretzel bites, flavored popcorn, soft serve ice cream, and chili “cone” queso. In front of the cones is Sally’s Cozy Cone Motel lobby where you will find Lightening McQueen, Mater and Red from the movie Cars hanging out for photo opportunities.

Back to the snacks, the churro bites cannot be missed. They are served in a classic orange cone and come with a slightly spicy chocolate dipping sauce. We recently tried the Oreo Cookies N Cream churro, which was a chocolate churro filled with cream filling. Yum!

What is fun about the different cones, is they often have special treats they are offering for a limited time, such as the Cookies N Cream churro. At the Chili Cone they have a macaroni and cheese with bacon served in a bread cone. I hope it becomes a permanent snack! Continue reading

Brunch at Bankers Hill Bar and Restaurant

My friend and I had tickets for the Sunday matinee showing of Annie presented by Broadway San Diego, along with her daughter.  We love brunch and a girls day out!  Bankers Hill Bar and Restaurant had been on my must-try list and since it was close to the Civic theatre, it seemed like the perfect spot to stop in for brunch.

I made a reservation in advance through Yelp, which was helpful since we had an engagement after brunch.  I was smitten as soon as I walked up to the big rustic doors. Above the hostess station is a chandelier made out of wine glasses in all shapes and sizes.  Inside there are a lot of wood details, windows and marquee signs.  We opted to sit outside in the enclosed patio.  It sold me with the dark tiles, glass sliding doors, rustic wood tables and chairs, and succulent wall.

Our server was really nice and helpful.  He suggested we start with a house made cinnamon roll (which I had planned on doing because dessert first) and listed all of the fresh juice they have to offer.  In addition to the cinnamon roll, we began our brunch with grapefruit mimosas while we looked over the menu.

A warm house made cinnamon roll arrived after our mimosas, it had cream cheese frosting and a blackberry compote.  I would definitely order again as a starter or as dessert after our entrees.  I’ve never had a fruit compote on a cinnamon roll, but wow did it work. Continue reading

Weekend in LA – Part 4

Ice cream was a definite theme to our weekend in LA and there was an abundance of options to choose from.  We were in Mid-City and stopped in at Sweet Rose Creamery.  Sweet Rose Creamery offers a wide range of classic ice cream flavors as well as seasonal flavors.

You could get your ice cream in a cup, cone, or if you were feeling wild, they offer an affogato.  Affogato is an espresso shot poured over a scoop of ice cream.  Sweet Rose Creamy also serves Caffe Luxxe coffee and a selection of tea from The Art of Tea. Continue reading

Christmas Time at Disneyland – Pooh Corner

Christmas time at Disneyland is so magical and something we all deserve to experience.  Being annual pass holders, we are fortunate enough to get to experience all of the different seasons at the park.  Each October I always announce how much I love Halloween time at the park, but once we move on to Christmas, I suddenly cannot pick a favorite.

We were there right after Halloween and when I left the parks I was ready to decorate my house for Christmas.  Between the decor, music and snow at night you can’t help but feel like Christmas is right around the corner, Thanksgiving what?!

Once we step off of the Winnie the Pooh ride in Critter Country, my kids run straight into Pooh Corner for a treat.  I never seem to mind, since it is my favorite candy shop between both parks.  During their Christmas season,  they have so many adorable Holiday treats that it is hard to decide, so I end up grabbing a few.
